He Pengfei grew up watching his father make lacquerware. His father is He Junming, the only national inheritor of Jiangzhou Tixi. What really made him interested in lacquer art was from the day his father accepted a task to imitate a yuan dynasty national treasure. Relying on ancient books and the sporadic inheritance of older people, He Junming undertook the task of imitating Zhang Cheng's lacquer box, and Pengfei He followed his father to begin the research and imitation work for nearly ten years. The charm of ancient Chinese artifacts seems to have a kind of magic to attract Pengfei. After graduating from the Academy of Aesthetics and Fine Arts, he decided to return home to start a journey of inheritance and development of the ancient craft with his father. Every year, we restore some ancient works and make some traditional things, and then try to make some innovations. The innovations rooted in tradition need the painstaking efforts and time of a new generation of artisans.
